The Unity Candle Ceremony
recognises the light of love that burns at the heart of every family. Using
taper candles to light the "unity" candle, recognises the joining together
of lives, families, and loved ones through the marriage commitment.
These beautiful formats are available
to celebrate the uniting of two lives:
-
The Memorial Candle Ceremony
honours deceased family members. In remembrance of departed loved ones, special friends or family members, are invited to light a special memorial candle during a special reading. This ceremony is held prior to the start of the wedding service, and on most occasions the Bride and Groom are not present.
-
The Unity Candle Ceremony
honours the joining of couples and their families. As part of this service,
the Bride and Groom may have one or more of their family members, such as
their mothers, each light a candle. The couple then use these candles to
light the Unity candle.
-
The Unity Candle Presentation
allows the couple's children to take an active part in the service. During
this service, the couple's children are each invited to light a candle. The
Bride and Groom then pass their individual tapers through their children's
candles before coming together to light the Unity candle.
-
The Unity Candle Guest Participation
allows guests to light candles. Starting at the back of the room, each
guest lights a candle from his/her neighbour's candle. The last candle lit
is used to light the Bride and Groom's tapers, which are then used to light
the Unity candle.
